چکیده

Abstract Quantitative evaluation of the response crop yield and water productivity (CWP) to future climate change is important prevent or mitigate adverse effects change. This study made such an for agricultural land over Heihe River basin in northwest China. The ability 31 models simulating precipitation, maximum temperature, minimum temperature was evaluated studied area, a multi-model ensemble employed. Using previously well-established Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT), four major crops (corn, wheat, barley, spring canola-Polish) were simulated three time periods (2025–2049, 2050–2074, 2075–2099) under two Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP4.5 RCP8.5). results revealed that impacts on CWP canola would all be negative, whereas impact corn eastern part middle reaches positive. On whole, RCP8.5 scenario more harmful crops, while Minle Shandan counties have better cope with

Modeling crop water consumption and water productivity in the middle reaches of Heihe River Basin

7 Heihe River Basin is located in the arid inland area of northwest China and is facing 8 serious water shortage problems. Since irrigation is the largest water consumer in the 9 middle reaches of the Basin, it is crucial to study the crop yields and water 10 consumption in order to improve the agricultural water productivity and to support 11 sustainable economic development in this region. Evolutionary trends of drought under climate change in the Heihe River basin, Northwest China

The present paper focused on the analysis of drought in the Heihe River basin based on daily precipitation data observed at 13 weather stations covered from 1961 to 2010. The spatial and temporal variation of drought was estimated by means of the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), linear regression analysis and inverse distance weighted analysis. The SPI series on 1-month, 3-month, 6-month...

Climate change impacts on crop yield, crop water productivity and food security – A review

This paper provides a comprehensive review of literature related to the assessment of climate change impacts on crop productivity using climate, water and crop yield models. The existing studies present that climate change models with higher spatial resolution can be a way forward for future climate projections. Meanwhile, stochastic projections of more than one climate model are necessary for ...

Evaluating Impacts of Industrial Transformation on Water Consumption in the Heihe River Basin of Northwest China

Growing water scarcity is one of the central challenges for sustainability in China, given its burgeoning industry and huge population, especially in the arid and semi-arid inland river basin where precipitation is very limited. Industrial transformation is an important engine of economic growth, which is required to be implemented by governments at all levels in China. Economic models have gen...

Impacts of climate change on hydrology, water quality and crop productivity in the Ohio-Tennessee River Basin

Nonpoint source pollution from agriculture is the main source of nitrogen and phosphorus in the stream systems of the Corn Belt region in the Midwestern US. The eastern part of this region is comprised of the Ohio-Tennessee River Basin (OTRB), which is considered a key contributing area for water pollution and the Northern Gulf of Mexico hypoxic zone. A point of crucial importance in this basin...
